Education

Study association Planck facilitates the education of the Fontys institute of Applied Natural Sciences. Planck supports this by working on the following projects:

LaTeX, Overleaf course and manual

  • LaTeX, Overleaf course and manual
  • Image Lab manual
  • Maintaining the Minor database
  • Setting up a Master Database
  • Collaboration with Planckgas
  • Collaboration with Studybuddies and Student Experts
  • Active in the education committees of TN and AS.

In addition, our students are always welcome to ask Planck for advice regarding their study career. Of course, there are higher-year students within Planck, where the threshold for asking questions is lower. All board members are also confidential advisors to whom you can always turn with various problems. However, the first point of contact is and always will be the studentcoach.

English exemption – Applied Physics

Many students of Applied Physics are not always familiar with the fact that you can apply for exemption from the English exams. So this is possible! The manual explains exactly what you need to do to apply for the exemption. The manual can be downloaded via the link below and for further questions you can always email the assessors via assessoren-tn@fontys.nl.

LaTeX – Overleaf

Overleaf is an easy-to-use editor from the LaTeX software. This allows you to easily ‘code’ your own text and write beautiful reports, papers and articles. The manual can be downloaded via the link below, there is also a format of a report.

Image Lab – Bio-rad

Image Lab is an easy-to-use software that can be used to capture and analyze digital image data from electrophoresis gels and blots. Image Lab allows students to create digital images and then process them to obtain information about the protein that has been electrotropheroized. Below is a short manual that you can use during your research.

Maintaining the Minor database

Students who would like to do an external minor are often out of the woods. That is why Planck has set up a minor database, so that people can get inspiration from it: External Minors. Have you already done an external minor? Then be sure to fill in the questionnaire: Share your experience!

Setting up a Master Database

Just as we currently have a minor database, we are also setting up a master database. The motivation is the same, Students can get inspiration from this database which master’s they want to do after Applied Physics or Applied Science. The answers will be as many of our own alumni as possible!

Planckgas

Planckgas is an organisation of TNW. They give our students support and/or tutoring (where and with whom). In addition, they organize courses to learn better. Are you curious about the possibilities for you? You can reach them via the email address planckgas@fontys.nl.

Study buddies and student experts

Applied Science has the well-known study buddies. These are higher-year students who make the first-year students feel welcome and support them with their first weeks at HBO. In addition, AS students can also be supervised by student experts. These are again senior students who help first-year students with specific subjects. Planck is closely involved in this and is even present at the intake interviews!

Programme committees

Both Applied Physics and Applied Science have a Programme Committee (OC). These are committees of Applied Sciences (supervised by the quality manager of Applied Sciences) that are filled with students and teachers to guarantee the quality of education from both. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can reach them via the following email addresses: OC-TN@fontys.nl and as-oc@fontys.nl.
