Chemical (engineering)
In the third year of Applied Science and the fourth year of Technical Physics, you can follow a minor. The minors offered by TNW can be found on Canvas. This page provides all information about external minors that are interesting for students wanting to broaden their knowledge in Materials, Technology, and Food Sciences.
Aarde, water en milieu (geochemie) – Aardwetenschappen universiteit Utrecht
Applied Bioanalytical and Pharmaceutical chemistry – Hogeschool Utrecht
“The minor was a good fit with the Materials side of the program. It is a follow-up/deepening for analytical chemistry in combination with biochemistry” – Nina de Koster

The structure of the course is good and contains enough challenge, but is not too difficult. The subjects are interesting and educational. The minor also includes an excursion to a biochemical company. The interfaces of chemistry and biology come together in this course.
I found it a very interesting minor, I learned a lot. The part of nutrition that I missed in Applied Science I could learn during this minor.” – Laura Willems

The minor fits in well with our education. The prior knowledge needed to understand everything was mainly first-year biology and some chemistry from the first and second year.
Semiconductor Packaging– Hogeschool Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN)
“This minor takes the term “broadening” very literally. With guest lectures ranging from polymers in computer chips to nanomaterials, photonic chips and statistical process technology. Between lectures you can recover with dinner and sleep in because almost everything starts around 12:00. The many company visits on the NIOVO-tech campus give you a look behind the scenes at the Dutch Hightech industry with an excursion to multiple cleanrooms and test centers almost every 2 weeks. I would definitely follow this minor again :D” – Thomas Neuteboom
